Today we was introduced to our future A2 media project, we was told what was expected of us to achieve the highest grade possible and was made aware of the leap from AS to A2 and how we could use our creative and analytical skills from AS to help with our A2 coursework. After being told about our future project a short 5 minute film, and two ancillary tasks of our choice, we then had to choose our group members.

I decided to work with my friend Ciara Murray because we believed together we could use each of our individual skills and create a good end project. Ciara and I began brainstorming a few ideas for our future project and roughly designated roles for each of us so the work will be equally balanced.

Together we came to the conclusion that Ciara was going to have an stronger role in the editing and final process of our project where as i was going to play a stronger role in the research and planning side both playing to our strengths

We both agreed that we wanted our short film to be in the genre Horror, and began brain storming our ideas and knowledge about the genre horror and stereotypical conventions of horror films and short films in general.

We also discussed our target audience in which our short film would be aimed at because once we know this we can base our film around this age group focusing on and targeting the stereotypical likes and dislikes of our target audience.

To the left is an example of our target audience.

On the whole, our target audience will be aged 16-30 for both males and female. The core audience's nationality would be British as the film is spoken in English and will be released using a British website. However a secondary audience would be English speaking countries, for example America and Canada.

Our target audience will be keen film makers, ones who appreciate and understand the concept of short films and know the typical conventions of  different genre's in our case horror. They would stereotypically be middle class allowing them to have access to the internet so they could access our film using new media websites. Finally they would also enjoy going out socialising, visiting the cinema, or film festivals where they can learn about upcoming media and films
